Dorothy, 82, left us May 25th, passing peacefully at home. She is survived by her husband, Ray, brothers, Jack and Jim, sons, Carl, Kurt and Brian as well as grandchildren and a large, much loved, extended family.
Born into a close-knit farming community in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Dorothy married the love-of-her-life and they spent the early years of marriage in the US military, stationed in the US and Germany. They also enjoyed this time traveling around the world.
They settled in the Edmonds area over 60 years ago after falling in love with the NW during the World's Fair. Their family grew over the years to include their sons and grandchildren.
Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker and also worked outside the home in retail sales. She spent retirement gardening, baking and doting on her grandchildren as well as traveling with her husband and friends.
Throughout her long life, she was an active community member, belonging to and leading many clubs and organizations such as Sno-King Hockey, Boy Scouts of America (Den Mom), Little League Baseball (Team Mom), Sno-King Fuchsia Society, Alderwood Garden Club, Edmonds in Bloom and The Checkerboards Square Dancers.
Dorothy was a beautiful, energetic and amazingly fun person to be around and brought light into so many lives. She will be missed by those lucky enough to be a part of her friends and family.
A celebration of life for Dorothy will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 from 12:00 PM at Bauer Funeral Chapel, 701 First Street, Snohomish, WA 98290, followed by a remembrance reception from 1:00 PM.
