Born 1-26-41 in a wood shed in Binger, WA died at home in Lake Stevens 11-14-18.
He graduated from Wenatchee High School and Wenatchee Junior College. He was employed with SP&S railroad until he was drafted into the army. Serving 6 years, 2 of them as a code breaker in Korea. After his discharge he went to work for Weyerhaeuser as an oiler until his retirement.
He married Judy Stone in 1981. After her death he married Joyce Dailey in 2002.
George belonged to the Lake Stevens Senior Center for 12 years, where he was a dishwasher and janitor until 3 months ago and he played bingo until the end.
He is survived by his ever loving wife Joyce of Lake Stevens, daughter Davette Matthew of Mukilteo, who he adored and thought she was the greatest person ever, sister-in-law Pat Matthews of Dalles and 3 nieces.
He is also survived by best friend Jim Russell, who had been there for him for forty years. Thank you Jim!
He had 2 brothers, Don of The Dalles, OR and Lynn of Vancouver WA.
“Remembering George” will be held Dec. 2, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. at the Lake Stevens Senior Center. We wish all family and friends to attend, share memories and join us in our final goodbye to our buddy!
