

He was born in Twin Falls, ID on March 20, 1941 to George E. and Clara (McKnight) McNees. At a young age, he moved with his mother and sisters to Newport, WA near Spokane. He graduated Newport High School in 1959. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard where he proudly served. George was employed by Associated Grocers for 33 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #6 and the Elks Lodge #479 in Everett.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Patricia (Pat) McNees; son, Robert (Krista) McNees; and his granddaughter, Kyla Marie. He also leaves his sisters, Dolores Wagner (Lloyd Hopkins) and Carol McNees; as well as special nieces, Cindy Weed (Greg Lange) and her son, Matthew Weed and Susan (Steven) Stolle and sons, Sam and Jack. In addition, many cousins and friends remain. We will miss him.
The family wishes to thank Dr.'s Amy Hong and Thomas George and all the nursing staff of Swedish in Edmonds for the professional and compassionate care they provided for George. Also, thanks to the staff and volunteers of Providence Hospice in Everett.
A memorial service will be held at Bauer Funeral Chapel, 701 First Street, Snohomish, WA on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. Graveside service to follow at GAR Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Knights of Colombus Hall, 2913 W Marine View Drive in Everett following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Childrens Hospital of Seattle and Providence Hospice.
