Jean was born on December 30th, 1938 and grew up in the city of Snohomish. Jean's incredible journey through life began after graduating from high school, where she gathered every penny that she had earned picking strawberries and boarded a bus headed to San Francisco. Jean met up with a friend from school whose father was a prison guard at Alcatraz as her friend had offered her a place to stay at the guard's family quarters on the island. Jean secured employment at Palmer films, working in the editing room. Every day, she was ferried to and from Alcatraz island aboard the Warden Johnson.
Jean returned to Washington state and worked in Seattle at an orthopedic facility where she met Paul Bochan, the love of her life. Jean and Paul exchanged vows, took forty acres of trees & brush and carved out a working horse ranch. Jean became an accomplished racehorse trainer at Longacre's Racetrack, held a real estate license, cared for her family, and whatever spare time that was left, she worked on her art work; paints, pen & ink, and leather carving.
Eventually, Jean and Paul combined their skills and created a successful leather crafting and saddle repair business, plus Jean became an accomplished reflexologist and was a writer and published author.
Jean was kind and extraordinarily generous with her time, whether it was hauling her children's horses, attending horse shows, watching shooting matches and school sports, or helping neighbors in times of need. Jean donated horse tack and repairs for families that could not afford it and provided counseling to teenagers and young adults. Jean was the personification of what all of us could strive to become and her passing has left a big empty hole in this earth.
Jean is preceded in death by husband Paul Bochan, and is survived by her children, Tamara Bochan, Derek Bochan and wife Tammy. She is also survived by her grandchildren Cameron Stevens and wife Katey and Alex Bochan and her great-grandchildren Jameson Stevens, Logan Barker and Jean's brother Mike Reardon and cousins Nancy Peters and Dale Peters as well as numerous family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue or Colby's Crew Rescue. Thank you.
