Born June 20, 1947 in Everett to Kathryn Fulfs Fleming and Edward Haddenham, he was raised in Arlington, WA and then Sultan, WA where he graduated in 1966.
Larry met his wife, Cathy Shewmaker, in high school and they were married 43 years. They resided mostly in Snohomish. Larry was a beloved father to Stacy (Kelly), Glenn (Shannon) and A.J. (Holly). He considered them also his best friends. His greatest joy came with the grandkids, Billy, Echo, Tyler, Nolan, and Tucker. He loved taking them to the movies without Grandma, for long walks and ice cream and when they called him because they needed new shoes!
The family enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with Aunt Sandy and Uncle Rob and the cousins in the early years and as the three kids became adults they played, even the non-campers, on Whidbey Island each summer. Larry loved fishing and camping, pinochle, AJ's ranch, dancing, quilt shop hop, his garden, his Bassett, his cats, and shoes.
Larry started his shoe career in 1970 and retired in 2010 from JC Penney. Larry loved people and considered his co workers his friends and extended family.
Larry is also survived by many relatives. A special thank you to his sister, Rita who always goes above and beyond. Larry's laughter and hugs were a special gift to us all.
In lieu of flowers to the family, please send a note with a special memory, or plant something beautiful in your garden, or share a smile and a hug.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. January 14, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, 13th Street and Lakeview Drive, Snohomish, WA with a gathering to follow immediately after at the Snohomish Senior Center.
Arrangements under the direction of Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish, WA.
