Lila Margaret Moe, loving wife of Hal Moe former Snohomish School District Superintendent, passed peacefully on July 21, 2012. Lila was born July 24, 1916. She was a graduate of Arlington High School and attended Everett Junior College.
During the 40’s and prior to her marriage, she worked at the JC Penny’s on Colby in Everett. Lila was a consummate support for Hal during his principalship and superintendency. She was highly involved in community service through the Snohomish High Faculty Wives, Lady Lions, and Christ the King Lutheran Church.
After the untimely death of Hal, Lisa went to work for the Snohomish School District as an instructional assistant for 15 years serving special needs students at Central School. On Saturdays, you would find Lila working at Harmon Clothing Store. In her 70’s, she worked as a greeter at Rite Aid Pharmacy helping the elderly with their prescriptions.
Having a massive stroke at the age of 80 and given two days to live, Lila fought back and took up residence at Merry Haven Convalescent Center. Within time, Lila was back to her old ways as a positive influence to everyone she met and living her faith. Many called her the greeter because of her gregarious and positive outlook on life when meeting all who passed by her corner in the hall. For 15 years, she loved and affected the lives of visitors and staff there.
Lila leaves behind her son Michael and his wife Beth, daughter-in-law Loli, grandchildren Sarah, Andy, and Terry and his wife Jennifer, great-grandchildren Maggie and Charlie, sister Velma (Babe) Bjorn and sister-in-law Betty Blacken, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lila was preceded in death by parents Olie and Alma Blacken, husband Hal Moe and two-day old son, brothers Cliff and Gordy Blacken, brother-in-law Con Bjorn, and nephew Larry Bjorn.
Many thanks go out to family and friends in the Snohomish Community for and to Merry Haven staff and administration for the great care Lila received over the years. The family is extremely grateful. Lisa was a remarkable lady who will be truly missed.
A memorial celebration of her life will be on August 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Snohomish Christ the King Lutheran Church. Donations in memory of her life may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church or to your favorite charity.
