Margie was born on July 17, 1932 in Cando, North Dakota to Bernard and Emma (Zuehlsdorf) Botz, she was the youngest of 3 children. She graduated from Bothell High School in 1950 and married Loyal Emerson Carnahan on October 9th, 1954. They were blessed with nine children whom she was extremely proud of. They eventually moved to Snohomish to raise their family together. She said that each of her children were "meant to be in my life." Loyal's passing in 2001 after 47 years of marriage was challenging, but she took great comfort in her circle of family and friends. Margie was a devoted member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a lifelong participant of the Rosary prayer group. She deeply valued the role her faith played in her life. Margie was always there when anyone asked, or needed help, and always at a moment's notice. Margie was a resilient woman, conquering cancer, a stroke, and 2 hospice "graduations," always coming out the other side with gratitude and positivity. She was an avid gardener, loved playing weekly card games with her grandchildren, and was a beloved confidant to many and a fabulous listener with a very special talent for making everyone she loved feel like they were the most important person in her life.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Emma, her husband, Loyal, and her brothers, Al and Bernie. She is survived by her 9 children: Brian (Yvette), Teresa (Don), Rebecca (James), Rhonda, Sandra (Michael), Laura (Russell), Daniel, Mark (Kelly), Nathan (Tamara), 18 cherished grandchildren and their spouses, and 31 beloved great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many other close family and friends. She considered all a great blessing in her life, especially her lifelong best friend, Grace Niebuhr.
