He was born June 6, 1935 to Florence and Arthur (A.J.) Barnhart at Snohomish General Hospital. His paternal grandparents were Ellen and Fred Barnhart, whose pioneering spirit led them to Snohomish, WA in 1895. His maternal grandparents were Inge and Antone Tronsrud.
Mike was a 1953 graduate of Snohomish High School, where he was an All-Northwest league basketball player.
He served in the US Army in Germany before returning to Everett, WA.
Mike worked for the US Postal service in Everett. He was the letter carrier for the same route for 25 years where he acquired many beloved friends along his route until his retirement in 1992.
Mike enjoyed collecting antiques, reconnecting with friends at class reunions, Snohomish County history, attending coin club, trading tokens and the love of his life, was playing Keno.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and his sister, Patricia; and his wife of 42 years, Audrey.
Mike leaves behind his cousins, Luanne Ren, Jackie Hughes, Barbara and Bob Barnhart. He also leaves his best friend, Janet McCumber; and his beloved Meow Cat; as well as many longtime friends and neighbors.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held at the Evergreen Bowling Alley, 5111 Claremont Way, Everett WA, on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
