Patricia (Dianne) HEMMING

February 16, 1958May 19, 2019

On Sunday May 19th 2019, Dianne Hemming passed away at Evergreen hospital, surrounded by family, after battling cancer for 3 ½ years, at the age of 61. Dianne was an immeasurably proud parent, loyal friend, loving sister, caring aunt, and dedicated daughter. She worked at Cottage Lake Elementary school as a school assistant and playground supervisor for over 30 years, touching the lives of countless students and staff with her thoughtful, compassionate, positive, energetic heart. Dianne was born to William Irvine (father) and Patricia Irvine (mother) in Omaha Nebraska on February 16th 1958. Her family then moved to Tucson Arizona, where Dianne spent much of her childhood, until the family relocated to Woodinville WA in 1968. Dianne attended Cottage Lake Elementary School, Leota Jr High, and Bothell High-school. She attended some college, and worked briefly at Boeing after high-school, before dedicating her life to her children. In 1988 she took a position at Cottage Lake Elementary as an office assistant and playground supervisor, further dedicating her many gifts to generations of children and their families.

Throughout her career she won awards for her service to the kids/community of Cottage Lake, and was a renowned advocate to those in need. Dianne loved her family dearly (including her dog, Lola), her job, her adventures with her fiance Kevin Nolan, music (she went to dozens of live concerts), and above all things, children… She never grew up, and instead blanketed all the kids she met with kindness, compassion, creativity, humor, and love. Dianne is survived by her daughter (Rianne Hemming), son (Jake Hemming), grand-daughter (Scarlett Pense-Hemming), her fiance (Kevin Nolan), her mother (Patricia Irvine), siblings (Debbie Lohnes, David Irvine, John Irvine, and Joseph Irvine), niece (Heather Dishion), and nephews (Justine Irvine, Michael Lohnes, Jackson Irvine, and Clint Irvine). Dianne was predeceased by her hero and loving father (William Irvine) in 1997.

The loss to the family and community is tremendous, but her wild and glittering spirit remain in the grateful hearts of all those she touched. On June 11th, Dianne will receive the Outstanding Educational Award, for her lifelong passion and service to the children of Northshore School District, their families, and her peers. There will be a celebration of her life, on Saturday June 8th at Cottage Lake Elementary school from 3pm-6pm. We will never forget her perfect laugh, unyielding courage, and limitless capacity to love. Dianne never rationed her heart… She gave every last drop, every day of her beautiful life.
