Raymond Paul Axtman, age 88, passed away at home with his family at his side on June 14, 2018. Raymond Axtman was born on April 15, 1930, to Steven and Elizabeth Axtman, in Rugby, ND. Ray was the youngest of nine children. He is survived by one sister, Eva Waller, who lives in Lake City, WA. Ray grew up on a farm in Rugby. He was drafted during the Korean War and served in Seoul, South Korea. He then attended North Dakota University in Fargo, ND. After graduating, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he practiced large animal medicine in St. Charles, Minnesota. There, he met Barbara Schlosser; and they were married, June 10, 1961, in Durand, Wisconsin. In 1970, Ray and Barbara moved to Monroe, WA, where he had a small animal veterinary practice. There they raised 4 girls. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and four daughters and their husbands, Ann (Todd), Mary (Randy), Julie (Greg), and Ellen (Sean); and his six grandchildren, Rebecca, Emily, Amber, Paul, Eli and Kyle

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you all at this very difficult time. I'm so glad you and Ray were still able to travel to Wisconsin last year. It was a nice visit.
I always remembered Ray as such a soft spoken and kind man. He will surely be missed by many.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
