Robert L POPE
August 17, 1945 – April 9, 2018
Robert “Bob” Lyle Pope, 72, returned to his heavenly home on April 9, 2018 after a courageous battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in the Lord supported him and ultimately brought him peace.
Bob was born to the late John Winslow Pope and Dolores Grace Tallman Pope, in Seattle, WA, on August 17, 1945. He graduated from Shorecrest High School in 1964 where, as an athlete, met many lifelong friends. After High school, he joined the Naval Air and, upon returning home, found work as a Hod Carrier for the local laborers union.
Bob was blessed with a large and loving family. He married Cheryl Hanson on June 10, 1972 in Edmonds, Washington, and helped to raise his three daughters with patience, discipline and so much love. His love for his children and grandchildren was unmatched, as was his generosity to family and friends.
Bob loved being in the wilderness. He was an avid hunter and found solace in nature. He taught his family to work hard, to find joy in the outdoors and to love the Lord. His loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is now at peace with his Creator, will forever miss him.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Dawn Barry (Mike), Brenna Pope, and Rosalie Soviero (Joe): his three grandchildren, Meghan Fuller, Jessica Casel (Brendan), and Elias Soviero; his great-granddaughter Leah Casel: his nephew Jakob Yansen: and by his siblings Don Pope and Debra Yansen (David). Bob was preceded in death by his brother, David Pope.
