William Glover William (Bill) Gibson Glover passed away suddenly on January 1, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and mentor to many. He married his high school sweetheart, Jill Shea, in 1973. Together they had three children before her passing in 1983. He married again in 1988 to Lorraine Pratt, adding her two children to the family. Bill was a third generation farmer, following in his father and grandfather's footsteps. He grew up in Lake Stevens, WA, on the family farm where he learned many of the skills he would apply throughout his life. It was also the birthplace of the passions that would guide his life, which were his love of family, farming, and helping others in any way he knew. He was a selfless man with a big heart that manifested itself in so many ways, always ready to help his family and anyone who asked with anything needed. Bill believed in serving his community, which took many forms. This included his years serving in Granite Falls, WA, as a volunteer firefighter/EMT, as a commissioner for Fire District 17, and in the Lions Club. Later he settled in Snohomish, WA, where he continued by serving on the Board of the local Farmers Co-Op, and later becoming the president. He would also join the Sky Valley Tractor Club where he would merge his love of farming and tractors with his love of community service, in this too he was not only just a member but he would lead, joining the board and becoming Treasurer and President at different times. In high school, Bill was a proud member of the Future Farmers of America and was awarded its American Farmer Degree, the most prestigious award given by the National FFA to only one or two students a year from each state. Later many of his children, grandchildren, and others would follow in his footsteps and join 4-H, the FFA, and other activities, emulating his passions. This love made him a beloved fixture at many local fairs in the barns, educating many kids on how to show and care for animals. Bill also discovered the joy of travel with his wife, Lorrie, and delighted to often include the grandchildren as well. His favorite destination was Hawaii; but he also enjoyed many cruises, particularly the Panama Canal. His other travel highlights included seeing the Caribbean, China, the Grand Canyon, Puerto Rico, and New England. He was fortunate to enjoy New Zealand and Australia shortly before his passing. He is survived in passing by his wife, Lorraine, his children, Greg (Sarah), Bonnie (Jon), Ben (Andrea), Bryan (Caitlin), and Brett. He is also survived by his mother, Caroline, five siblings, 20 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jill; father, Everett; and his great-grandson, Aleksandr. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas Family Farm, 9010 Marsh Rd. in Snohomish. There will also be a viewing on Friday, January 6th from 6-8 p.m. at Bauer Funeral Chapel, 701 First Street in Snohomish. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/heraldnet/obituary.aspx?n=william-gibson-glover-bill&pid=183370126&fhid=10690#sthash.tTYvJRIH.dpufArrangements under the direction of Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish, WA.
