Yvonne Paine passed away peacefully January 2, 2012 at Bethany at Pacific in Everett. She was born Yvonne Esther Stevens on October 9, 1916 in Everett, Washington to Bernice Fay (Lord) and Leo Watson Stevens. She became the big sister to her siblings William, Ilenna, Lois, Don, Marilyn and Wally. Yvonne graduated from Everett High School in 1934. Her fellow students did an excellent job describing her in the annual: “Red-haired, petite and quiet describes Yvonne. Her friendliness and cheery smile is contagious, for there is a certain atmosphere of contented happiness around her.” It was there that she met Harry William Moser. Harry had a love of cars, so it is of no great surprise that on their first date they “cruised Colby” in Everett. They were married June 15, 1940. On January 7, 1943 they welcomed their son Allen William Moser.
Yvonne had a group of girl friends from High School that stayed close for many years. During WWII they rolled bandages together and in later years they met each Mother’s Day with their mothers, daughters and granddaughters. For many years she was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Snohomish, often volunteering in the kitchen. Yvonne loved all kinds of crafts. She embroidered, knitted, crocheted, made quilts and afghans and clothes for her grandchildren and their dolls. Yvonne was close to her family and was often going to the theater or on trips with her sisters.
After Yvonne lost her husband Harry on May 16, 1973, she moved to a smaller place in Snohomish and took a job with Shinoda Floral. On June 14, 1980 she married another fellow Everett High Grad, Rowell Paine and moved to his home in Mukilteo. They enjoyed their golden years together and always seemed to be on the go. After Rowell’s death on August 10, 1991 Yvonne moved next door to her sister Marilynn in Snohomish. She has spent the last 7 years at Bethany in Everett.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and son. She is survived by her daughters-in-law, Gigi Moser and Sue Johnson, her grandchildren, Marc Moser and Maria Anderson (and her husband Ryan), her great-grandchildren Neil and Amelia Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
The internment will be Friday January 6 at 2:30PM, at the GAR Cemetery in Snohomish. The service will be held Saturday January 7 at 3PM at the Bauer Funeral Chapel, with a reception to follow at the First Presbyterian Church, both located in Snohomish.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany at Pacific for the kind, loving care they provided for Yvonne.
Arrangements under the direction of Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish, WA.
