Donald L. Abell

Donald was born October 22, 1940 in Superior, WI and raised in Poplar, WI to the late George & Olive (Mitchell) Abell.

Donald served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Don married Sally Staudinger June 9, 1973 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Duluth, MN; they celebrated 38 wonderful years together. After they married in 1973 they moved to Bennett to proudly raise his family. Don enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling all over the United States. He was employed with the Douglas County Hwy Dept. and retired in 1999 after 33 years of faithful service.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared his life is his wife Sally of Bennett, WI, his children: Michael (Christine) Abell of Cloquet, MN, Heidi (Tim) Menebroeker of Osseo, WI, and Ann (Gene) Koshinski of Duluth, MN, three grandchildren: Gabriella, Zoey, and Isaac, one sister-in-law: Joy Abell of Poplar, WI, one aunt: Ruby Hineline of Rice Lake, WI, and his loyal companion: “Cassie”.

He is preceded in death by two brothers: Robert & Roger Abell, one sister: Jeanne Chesky.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, WI. Pastor Darrell Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Burial will take place in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
