Kenneth Lester Smith

Kenneth was born August 19, 1923 in Minong, Wisconsin to Fred and Lena (Welch) Smith.

Ken served his country honorably in the US Army from 1943 – 1945 earning the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze battle Stars, four Overseas Bars, and a Good Conduct Medal. He married Marjorie Jones on January 20, 1948, they enjoyed 66 wonderful years together.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baseball with his grand and great grandchildren. But most importantly he loved spending time with his family.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared his life are his wife of 66 years Marjorie of Minong, WI; three children Sharon (William) Wright, Bob (Kathy) Smith, Chuck (Marie) Smith; five grandchildren Shannon, Brooke, Brynn, Carl, Jodie; eight great grandchildren Kaylie, Ben, Anna, Henry, Owen, Brodie, Cadance, Carter; and many, many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by one brother Harold, two sisters Sylvia and Leona.

Memorial service for Ken will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Minong, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Military honors will be provided by the Wisconsin Funeral Honors Team.
