

Camillo Ponza, 88, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at home with his family by his side. He was born in Italy to the late Biagio and Margherita (Sabene) Ponza in 1926, and served with the Italian Army following WW II. He immigrated to Solvay in 1974. He was a Coremaker at the former Stanton Foundry in Solvay for many years, retiring in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church. An outdoorsman, Camillo was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Natalina Callara, his daughter; Caterina (Ronald) Passardi, of Camillus, son; Biagio (Josephine) Ponza, of Camillus, 4 grandchildren; David (Kristina) Meluni, Claudia (Phil) Donaway, Michael (Liza) Ponza and Joesph Ponza, 3 great-grandchildren; Dylan Ponza, Nicholas Meluni and Ariella Donaway, 3 sisters; Emily (Enzo) Ponza, of Solvay, Valentina (Igino) Ponza, of Italy and Anna Ponza, of Italy and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 8:15 am Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, and 9 am at St. Cecilia Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of committal and entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse.
