Elizabeth “Betty” (Scaia) Armani, 85, of Solvay, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 23rd. She was born June 19, 1930 in Jamesville to the late John and Mary (Franceschetti) Scaia, Sr. Soon after, her family moved to Solvay. Betty married Arnold Armani in 1949 and they became an integral part of the Village of Solvay for over 60 years, as well as their camp family and friends on Oneida Lake. Betty was our “lunch lady” at Solvay Elementary School for over 20 years.
Our mom was the ‘crazy glue’ that held the whole family together. She was “Bobido” to most, and we spent half of our lives visiting around her kitchen table, at home and camp. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Arnold in 2012 and sister, Doris Zoanetti in 1993.
She is survived by her 3 daughters; twins, Beverly and Barbara Armani and Patricia Tuori, 2 grandsons; Ryan (Barbra) Tuori and Andrew Armani, 3 great-grandchildren; Rowan, Quinn and Amelia Tuori, brother; John (Jane) Scaia, Jr, brothers-in-law; Robert (Marilyn) Armani and Bill (Betty) Armani and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 am Thursday, January 28, 2016 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME. Private entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave.
Betty’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staffs at Upstate, Community, James Square and Van Duyn.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Cecilia’s Food Pantry.
