Irene “Mary” Tarolli, of Solvay, passed away on October 25th, a month short of her 107th birthday. A native of Tyrol, Austria, she emigrated to the United States at the age of 15 and lived in Solvay for over 90 years.
She was the loving mother and grandmother to five children, 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. The family was blessed to have this wonderful woman with us all these years and life will not be the same without her.
As a child in Austria; Mary, as she was called, suffered through the ravages of World War I. She knew what it was like to be bombed, starving and lack shoes and clothing. Mary never forgot that, at the end of the war, the Red Cross came to her village and gave her clothes, shoes and food and she supported that organization for the rest of her life. The war experience left a lasting impression on her as she always concerned herself with feeding others over herself and making sure her loved ones were warmly dressed.
Mary loved to knit and crochet and made over 80 afghans for family and friends, as well as, countless other items to keep people warm. She was a charter member of the Solvay Tyrol Club auxiliary and loved going there for meetings, card playing and various events that celebrated her Tyrolean heritage.
The family would like to thank her two angels, Marge and Marge, who helped care for her the last few years.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Primo, siblings Angelo, Gilda and Olga, grandson, David, and son-in-law, Dick Korzyp.
She is survived by her sons, Rudy (Barbara), Rigo (Dorothy), Donald and daughters Janice Korzyp and Elaine Moore (Tom) and her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:15 am Tuesday in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9 am at St Cecilia Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
