Joseph R. "Joe G." Golembiewski

Joseph R. Golembiewski, 84, of Geddes, passed away peacefully Monday June 17, 2013 at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side. He was a life resident of Syracuse and a US Army Veteran. Joe was a manager at Balduzzi’s Big M in Solvay for 24 years. He also made ice cream at Marble Farms and was a custodian for West Genesee School District for 9 years before retiring in 1996. He was a past board member for the Boy Scouts Troop 72 and enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks and working around the house. His greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marie (Wojswilo) Goleski, brother, Jack Goleski and step-mother, Lillian Goleski.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Beatrice Flask, 2 sons, James (Margaret), of Solvay and Jerry (Linda), of Westvale, 3 granddaughters, Maureen, Valerie and Andrea, a great grandson, Jase, 2 sisters, Lorraine Shettle, of Spokane WA and Patricia (Walt) Larkin, of Fairmount, a sister-in-law, Sue Goleski, of Fairmount and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 7:45 am in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, and 8:30 am in St. Cecilia Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave.
