

Maria Augusta Cavacas, 87, of Solvay, went to be with her best friend and love of her life Thursday at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. She was born in Sao Martinho-Seia, Portugal to the late Jose and Maria (Augusta) Augusto in 1928, immigrating to the US in 1971. She was a seamstress at Leabury’s for 19 years before retiring and was a longtime communicant of St. Cecilia Church. Maria was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Alexandrino in 2015.
She is survived by her son; Victor (Paula) Cavacas, of Solvay, daughter; Maria Herminia, of Portugal, 5 grandchildren; Marianna Cavacas, of Syracuse, Christina (Ryan) Blount, of Liverpool, Serge (Kathy) Silva, of Syracuse, Paul (Stephanie Laterra) Cipriano, of Liverpool and Amanda (Shawn) Riley, of Baldwinsville, 4 great grandchildren; Ashley and Justin Silva, Charlie Blount and Alexa Riley, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd, Solvay. A Private Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. There are no calling hours. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME has care of arrangements.
