Ofelia Escobedo, 81, of Fairmount, passed away Monday at Community General Hospital. Born in Mexico, she lived in Syracuse most of her life. She worked in housekeeping at MONY Plaza and Syracuse University for over 20 years. She went back to work part time in the Chancellor’s Residence at SU before retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Las Palmas and Women of Virtue Club’s and enjoyed to travel and associate with family and friends. Ofelia was always very generous, whether helping those in need or shopping for her grandchildren. She was recently predeceased by her brother, Candido Escobedo on October 12, 2010.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Linda Escobedo, of Fairmount and Martha Cruz, of Olympia, WA, a son; Fernando Pineda, of Lewiston, NY, a sister; Maria Ignacia Vasquez, of Mexico, 2 brothers; Jose and Oscar Escobedo, of Mexico, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9 am in Holy Family Church, Fairmount. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse. There are no calling hours. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay has care of arrangements.
