

Paul D. Thayer, 76, of Camillus, passed away Saturday March 23, 2013 at the VA Medical Center. Paul was the son of the late James and Jean (Berry) Thayer of Cleveland, NY and graduated from Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square. He served in the US Navy from October 1954 to October 1962. He worked with the Local 30 Asbestos Workers at Heat and Frost Insulators in Syracuse for many years before retiring in 1998. Paul was a lifelong motorcycle and car enthusiast. He was predeceased by his parents, step-father, George Lyons, brother, Robert and sister, Lavonne.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, the former Elaine Lyndaker, 4 sons; Brian (Jean), of Onondaga Hill, Scott (Maureen), of Syracuse, Patrick, of Tampa, FL and Corey (Emily), of Jacksonville Beach, FL, 3 step-children; Judi (Reginald) Sanders, of Henderson, John Bauer, of Atlanta, GA and Janeane Lang, of Washington State, 4 granddaughters, 10 step-grandchildren, 13 step-great grandchildren, a brother; John Thayer, of Central Square, a sister in-law Phyllis Thayer, 4 nephews and a niece.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday March 28, 2013 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Onondaga County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday March 27, 2013 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the SPCA or Hospice of CNY.
