

Robert J. May, 87, of Solvay, passed away Wednesday at Francis House. Born in West Lafayette, Indiana, he lived in Syracuse most of his life. He was a US Army combat Veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater with the 4th Armored Division in General Pattons 3rd Army. Bob was employed by NY Telephone in Syracuse for 36 years, before retiring in 1982 as an office supervisor. He was an avid golfer and member of Arrowhead Golf Course and a life member of the Stanley B. Pennock VFW Post #2893.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Mary Jane Buonvecchio, a son; Robert (Linda) May, Jr, of Taunton, a daughter; Marianne (Jack) Haynes, of Charlotte, NC, 3 grandchildren; Cathleen, Michael and Jeffery, 4 great-grandchildren; Cameron, Connor, Fiona and Madeline, and many nieces and nephews.
