Robert A. Sposato

Robert A. Sposato, 46, of Cicero, passed away at home Saturday with his loving family by his side. In January 2012, he was diagnosed with stage four cancer and received treatment from Sloan-Kettering and Roswell Park. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Solvay High School. He was a loader at UPS in Syracuse for 26 years before retiring and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was an exceptional athlete who enjoyed bowling, golf and softball. He also loved SU Basketball, University of Miami Football and his weekly poker and pitch games with his friends. As a bowler, he was runner-up in the 1992 Herald Masters, bowled the highest series in the SBA 2009-2010 season with a score of 858, and was the Van Wie Doubles Champion in 2010. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Sposato in 2001.

Robbie’s family would like to especially thank Dr. Navone and the third floor Oncology nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care, and for making his wedding day special.

He is survived by his wife, the former Bridget O’Connor, his mother, Carolyn Grund, of Solvay, his brother, Richard Sposato, of Cicero, his sister, Sandra (William) LoVine, of Camillus, 2 nieces, Nisha Sposato, of N. Syracuse and Brianne LoVine, of Camillus, 2 aunts, JoAnn Heskin, of Winter Park, FL and Lynda (Kevin) Riley, of Lakeland, 2 uncles, George Sposato, of FL and Louis (Patricia) Sposato, of Apalachin, and many cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, at 8:45 am in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, and at 9:30 am in St. Cecilia Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave, Solvay.
