Mrs. Rose (Sassi) Miori

Rose Sassi Miori, 92, of Solvay, passed away peacefully at home on Monday January 16th, 2012. Rose was the youngest child of Madelena and Pietro Sassi, and the cherished step-daughter of Carolina Sguazzini Sassi. She was a lifetime resident of Solvay, and was active in the Tyrol Club Auxiliary and was a communicant of St. Cecilia Church. She loved cooking, sewing, and other handcrafts; she made all four of her daughters’ wedding dresses and many other beautiful pieces.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Nilo M. Miori. She was also predeceased by her siblings Fiorino, Alba, and Peter Sassi and Norma Sassi Argy.

Rose is survived by her four daughters, Lena-Rose (Stephen) Orlando, Sandra (Steven) Miori Leach, Doreen Miori-Merola, and Lisa (John) Miori Dinneen, all of Solvay. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Stephen Orlando, Jr., Lianna Orlando, Nicole Valentine, Heather Carrigan, Michael Leach, Nicholas and Jesse Dinneen, and Nila Merola. One great granddaughter, Callia Rose Valentine, also survives her “nonnie.” She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and her beloved angels of mercy who cared for her so completely and lovingly these last few years. The Miori family is indebted to all of you.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 am Thursday January 19th in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay, and 9 am at St. Cecilia Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Private burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday January 18th at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Avenue.
