Belinda C. "Bella" Flanagan

Belinda C. “Bella” (Merola) Flanagan, age 105, of Somerset passed a Monday, October 8, 2012 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Flanagan.

Mrs. Flanagan was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Domenico and Genoveffa (Mollo) Merola, and has been a resident of Somerset for 58 years. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her three children; Joseph R. Flanagan, Jr., of Somerset, Randall T. Flanagan and his wife Kathleen of Westport and Theresa M. Haley of Fall River; three grandchildren; Scott T. Flanagan, Jason Haley and Nina Haley; three great-grandchildren; Cameron Hasenfus and Riley and Lexi Bella Flanagan and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Flanagan was also the sister of the late Florence Steel, Mary Sperduti, Helen Patota, Hilda McGraw, and Alice, Renaldo, Charles, Carolyn, and Ermine Merola.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County St., Somerset followed by her funeral mass at 10am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Southcoast VNA, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Joe, Terry, Randy and family. I'am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mom. Try to hold on to the happy memories. I always remember how much fun she was to be around and the good times I would have with her. She was an unique and special person.

Joe, Terry and Randy,

My deepest sympathies are with you during this sad time. I recall the days of our youth on Globe Street during those immediate years before your move to Somerset in 1954. Your Mom had that motherly touch, which I was also privileged to recognize and appreciate.

I regret that I will not be able to participate in her funeral arrangements, as I depart tomorrow for a reunion with my Vietnam War unit comrades.

I'll miss sending her annual birthday cards acknowledging her long and sustained life.

Nana, you were my inspection in life. You always treated me like a princess, words cannot describe the amount of sadness I feel. I have lost one of the most loveing and kind hearted women I have ever known. I know you are in a much better place and by papas side so that puts my mind somewhat at ease. You will be truley missed and never forgotten.
