Claire E. Burgess, 86, of Swansea, formerly of Fall River, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 20, 2025. She was the wife of the late John G. Burgess. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Aime A. Lachance, Sr. and Severine D. (Cote) Lachance.
Mrs. Burgess was employed as an office clerk with Sarama Lighting and AETNA Insurance Co. until her retirement.
She loved spending time with her family, reading, puzzles, cooking, and traveling.
She leaves her loving children: Donna M. Cote & her husband Jeff of Swansea, Michael J. Burgess & his wife Dorothy of Fall River, Kathleen A. Aubin of Fall River, and Sharon M. Burgess of Fall River. Cherished grandmother of Christopher P. Aubin (Lindsey) of Sharon, MA, Eric J. Burgess (fiancee Sarah Kelley) of Somerset, Meghan E. Cote of Swansea, Erin P. Murphy (Christopher) of Fall River, and great-grandmother of Connor J. Cote of Swansea, Claire M. Cote of Swansea, Marielle K. Aubin of Sharon, and Brody L. Aubin of Sharon. Beloved sister of Lucille C. Carvalho of Fall River, Pauline C. Berube of Fall River, and the late Aime A. Lachance, Jr. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County Street, Somerset, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington Street, Swansea. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
Relatives & friends are invited and may call on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
