Daniel P. Correia, age 91, of Somerset, passed away peacefully Monday, January 27, 2014 in the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River. He was the beloved husband of the late Amelia B. “Millie” (Morgado) Correia to whom he was happily married for 65 years.
He was born in Somerset, the son of the late Antone and Maria (Pacheco) Correia, and has been a lifelong resident of Somerset. Mr. Correia was employed for over 30 years as the Custodian for the Somerset Public Library until his retirement in 1984. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset. Besides being a kind, always pleasant and loving man, he loved gardening and was generous with what he grew in his garden.
He will always be remembered by his daughter Carol A. Johnson of Fall River and his son Paul D. Correia and his wife Leslie of Somerset; his brother Alfred and sister Lorraine Emard both of Somerset; four grandchildren Beth Cambra and her husband Billy, Karen Ferreira and her husband Darrell, Heather Correia and Jamie Correia; five great grandchildren Jacob and Brynn Mello, Gavin Silva, and Jack and David Ferreira and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County St., Somerset followed by his funeral mass at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7PM. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
