Dolores J. Sousa

Born in Somerset, the daughter of the late John C. and Mary (Estrella) Nordeste, she was a lifelong resident of Somerset and a 1950 graduate of Somerset High School.

Mrs. Sousa was a Domestic Engineer most of her life and worked for several years at United Merchants Manufacturing in Fall River as an Accounts Payable Secretary and was also employed at St. Patrick’s Rectory in Somerset.

Dolores was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset, where she taught CCD, was a member of its’ women’s guild and was a recipient of the Marion Medal. She was a member of the Classy Ladies, an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed reading, day trips and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children: Leonard P. Sousa Jr. and his dear friend of Lisbon, Portugal; Jane Correia and her husband Carl of Somerset, and Bonnie Quattrucci and her husband Steve of Somerset; four grandchildren Courtney and Casey Correia and Steven and Kendra Quattrucci; a great-granddaughter Cali Jade Desrosiers; two sisters Anne Wilson and Olive Souza both of Somerset; a brother Edward Nordeste of Somerset; five godchildren Shannon Lauzon, Erin Harrington, Cindy Mello, Karen Nordeste and Daniel Nordeste and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 9AM from the WARING-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset followed by her Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8PM. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial will be St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
