

Dorothy T. Ready, 94, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, in Somerset, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston on September 30, 1931, Dorothy grew up in Dorchester and often spoke fondly of her childhood there.
Dorothy was an avid reader, and in recent years, it was rare to see her without a book in her hands. She was a caring and giving mother and grandmother, and her warmth extended to countless friends. One of her greatest joys was attending performances at the Warwick Musical Theater with her annual season tickets, where she and her friends enjoyed artists such as Englebert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, Perry Como, and many others. Known for her quick wit, Dorothy maintained her sense of humor throughout her life.
She also adored spending time at the beach. Many summer days were enjoyed at Peabody’s Beach in Middletown, and during her winters in Naples, she especially loved watching the beautiful sunsets over the gulf.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel F. Ready. Married for 67 years, they shared a love of travel and especially cherished their winters in Naples, Florida. Dorothy had been a resident of Somerset since 1960. She was the daughter of Penelope and Francis J. McViney.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Patricia Tourigny and her partner Patricia Moscaritolo; Susan LeComte and her husband Paul; Sharon Babb; and Christopher Ready and his wife Mary. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Terry Tourigny; Joshua LeComte and his wife Sarah; Danielle Dooner and her husband Sean; Meghan Dulong and her husband James; David and Daniel Babb; Bryan Ready and his wife Izzie; and Shawn Ready. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Ariana and Donovan Dooner, Aiden and Ava LeComte, and Tanner Dulong. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her son Daniel Ready Jr.; grandson Gregory Babb; and siblings Virginia Hourihan, Paul McViney, Ruth Christiano, and Albert McViney.
Dorothy’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her funeral will be held Monday, December 15, 2025, at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County Street, Somerset followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
