Eileen M. Pereira

Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Edward H. and Catherine (Burke) O’Brien, she was raised in Fall River before moving to Somerset over 65 years ago. A graduate of Dominican Academy in Fall River, class of 1951, she went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Stonehill College, class of 1955.

Eileen was an Elementary and Preschool Teacher for over 18 years in the town of Somerset, working at Wilbur and Village School before ending up at the Little Red School House, retiring in 1998.

After retirement, she volunteered one day a week at the Little Red School House, and was an avid reader. Eileen was better known to most as “Mimi.”

The family would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to the Community Nurse Home Care Staff for the exceptional care, love, and support you provided to Eileen. We are especially grateful to Nurse Patty, whose gentle presence, attentive care, true connection and genuine kindness made every visit more than just a health check visit.

Mrs. Pereira is survived by her four children, Dennis P. Pereira and his wife Elaine of Swansea, Elizabeth A. Chodkowski and her husband Paul of Somerset, Julie M. Ayres and her husband Douglas of Taunton, and Kathryn E. Michno and her husband Edward of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Edward and JD Michno, Sarah Moran, Chelsea Geary, Mitchell and Casey Chodkowski, and Matthew Ayres; five great-grandchildren, Forrest, Ziggy and

AJ Michno, Oliver Moran, and Emelia Geary; and several nieces and nephews. Eileen was the sister of the late Catherine Connor, Patricia Medeiros, and Joseph O’Brien.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset.Visiting hours will be Sunday, from 4:00 to 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset, MA 02726. Burial private.
