

Evelina (Cadime) Silva, “Evelyn,” age 90, died peacefully on July 6, 2014 at her home in Somerset after a brief illness. Evelyn was born September 1, 1923, in Fall River and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Ferreira) Cadima.
In 1945, Evelyn married the love of her life Anibal A. Silva, spending 68 wonderful years together. She worked as a sewing machine operator for Kay Bee, Harbro, and Darwood Manufacturing. Evelyn was a member of the Amalgamated Union for 38 years. She thoroughly enjoyed reading books, going to dinner, but most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her husband; daughter Karen and her husband Edward Raposa; sister Alice Crabtree; grandchildren Jocelyn (Mello) Gibbon, Jason Mello, Alison Weldon, and Amanda Carroll: four great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Susan Gower and sister of the late Mary Sousa, Georgina Souza, Ethel Silvia, Emily Faria, Manual Cadime, Joseph Cadime, Marianno Cadima, and John Cadima.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. John of God Church, 1036 Brayton Ave., Somerset. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
