Born in Somerset, the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Bigos) Slusarz, she has spent most of her life in Swansea. Mrs. Mello worked as a Unit Co-coordinator for the former Union Hospital now Charlton Memorial Hospital for 20 years until her retirement in 1992. An avid Bowler, she was a member of the Senior League in Somerset, she enjoyed gardening, was a former communicant of Blessed Virgin Polish National Catholic Church and a longtime communicant of St. Dominic’s Church. She was also a member of the St. Thomas More Senior’s while living in Somerset.
Surviving: five sons: Kenneth J., William T., Daniel J., Vincent J. and J. Richard Mello, Jr., three daughters: Jacqueline Kahn, Dorothy C. Murphy, Julie Anne Mello, two brothers: Raymond and John Slusarz, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Jo-Anne Mello and sister of the late Cecelia Zagorski, Francis and Stanley Slusarz and Amelia Marum.
Her funeral will be held Friday, February 22, 2013 at 8 AM from the WARING-SULLVIAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County St., Somerset with a funeral mass at 9 AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 GAR Highway, Swansea. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Diabetes Association of MA, 10 Speen St., 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
