Mary Jane Keyes

Mary Jane was a basketball referee and coach, as well as a softball umpire and coach who lead her teams to many tournament and state titles.

Mary Jane was an integral part of bringing youth softball to the Somerset area. In addition she was a Physical Educator and Athletic Director at Bishop Connolly High School. She worked tirelessly to improve the stature of sport at the school. She raised funds necessary to improve fields and create the turf field that was used for soccer and football at the school. From nothing, she built exceptional competitive arenas. Out of grief she created the Thomas P Keyes Memorial Golf Tournament which raised funds for a scholarship in his name at Bishop Connolly High School. This scholarship was for a student who was not the exceptional academic student but instead for the student who was an exceptional supporter of Bishop Connolly.

However the most important thing to her was family. She was a great- grandmother to Kowen Paul. A loving grandmother to Alison and Kyle Turner, Ashley Lanzisera and Thomas and Drew Keyes.

She was a wonderful mother to her children Marybeth Richardson and her husband Trip , Eddi Keyes and Tommy Keyes who left this world far too soon.

We will miss our Mum dearly but feel so blessed to have had her for 89 years and many many funny stories.
