Mary S. Motta, age 99, a longtime Somerset resident, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the Fall River Jewish Home. (surrounded by her loving family). She was the wife of the late Joseph Motta.
Mary was born in Rehoboth, MA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Deolinda Bretanha. She worked at the former Lamport Co. in Fall River for many years. Mae, as she liked to be called, enjoyed making her collection of over 100 crossword puzzles and completing word search puzzle books.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula M. Cabral and her companion Thomas Bianda of Somerset, MA, a niece, Roberta Finney of Cranston, RI, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Finney, Joseph Bretanha, and Raymond Bretanha.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to those individuals from the Fall River Jewish Home and Bristol Hospice, who took care of Mary.
