I remember long trips from Caribou, Maine to visit grandma Wilhelmine, Uncle Paul and Uncle Bill in the 1950s and -60s. I'll always remember the kind ways of Uncle Paul and Aunt Mary.

Paul was a steady, smiling presence during my annual visits to West Island as a child, and I realized the icon he was during my time on the island as an adult. Memories of the Heroux, Conlon, Pittman and Giblin families running all over the place, with Paul as a calm fixture at the center of it all will remain most vivid to me, Condolences to you all.

Paul, I am so happy that my son and next generation cribbage enthusiast, Perry, was able to meet you on WEST ISLAND! I pointed at you from afar and said, "there's the guy who got the 29 hand," and Perry said, "I gotta go talk to this guy..." It was so sweet to hear the two of you talk pegging, cribs, first count, etc..
Thank you, Paul, for making me so at home in your cottage, every summer! You will always be
The King of Cribbage.

Dear children of Mary and Paul, the era of the Heroux, Conlon and Pittman families on West Island has ended with Paul's death. But the wonderful memories of that time will live with us forever!! Judy and I were constantly reminded of those days, by the framed aerial map of West Island hanging prominently in our den!! The frame was made of wood from our then new house on Almond St. by your loving father, Paul. Our prayers are with you, Bill Pittman and family.
