Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Eva M. (Kent) Roode.
Bob received a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Boston University and went on to become a Major in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for a total of 20 years, a major portion of which was spent working on the International Space Station which is currently circling our earth.
An avid reader, Bob also enjoyed walking and completing crossword puzzles, especially in the Sunday edition of the New York Times.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Joan Corneau of Somerset; one brother, Wayne Roode of Brookfield, MA; two sisters, Marian Pottle and her husband Bruce of Florida, and Susan Braim of Lee, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was the brother of the late Carol Mayer, Kenneth and Ronald Roode, and brother-in-law of the late Connie Roode and James Braime.
His Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, MA, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 12:30 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne, Connery Ave., Buzzards Bay. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the funeral home no later than 10:30 AM to join the procession to the cemetery.
