Ronald J. Byrne

Ronald J. Byrne, age 75 of Somerset, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 4, 2011. He was the husband of Cecile B. (Boissoneau) Bryne to whom he had been married for 32 years.

He was born in Fall River the son of the late Lillian (Byrne) Campion and was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Byrne was employed as a Sales manager for 3 A’s Auto & Tire in Providence for seven years. Prior to that he worked for Engle Tire in Providence until its closing and was the manager at Firestone and Goodyear Stores in Fall River. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Somerset, was in several bowling leagues at Holiday lanes in Somerset and was an avid Red Sox fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his three children Carolyn Arruda of Fall River, Ronald P. Byrne of Palm Bay, FL and Scott F. Byrne of Sunrise, FL; two step-children Scott E. St. Pierre of Athens, NY and Wendy St. Pierre of Port St. Lucie, FL; eight grandchildren Jeffrey Arruda, Rebecca Byrne, Dillon Byrne, Andrew St. Pierre, Andrea St. Pierre, Jared St. Pierre, Billy Alarie and Lauren Alarie; one great-grandchild Nevaeh St. Pierre; one brother Alvin Byrne of Tiverton, RI, several nieces and nephews and his Dog “Buddy”.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN 866 County St., Somerset followed by his funeral mass at 10am in St. Thomas More Church 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7pm. Flowers welcome or memorial contributions in his honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial will be in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton.
