Sally A. Doucette

Sally A. (McLain) Doucette, age 81, of Somerset, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. She was the wife of Paul J. Doucette, Sr. to whom she had been married for 59 years.

Born in Rochester, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Effie (Brown) and John D. McLain, Sr.

Sally graduated from Elliot Community Hospital School of Nursing in Keene, New Hampshire on May 15, 1966 and became a board-certified Registered Nurse on July 22, 1966. Sally worked as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River for 50 years and served as the Head Nurse in the Obstetrical Unit for a number of years. Sally truly loved and was dedicated to her work.

An avid reader, Sally also enjoyed cross stitch and traveling to New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and she especially loved shopping trips. A devoted mother, Sally took great interest in her children’s extracurricular activities and remained supportive of their careers and families. Sally was also an advocate of cancer research and donated to many organizations.

Besides her husband, Sally is survived by two children, Karen Burks of Somerset and Paul J. Doucette, Jr. and his wife Diane of Shaftsbury, VT; one brother, John D. McLain, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of East Rochester, NH; three grandchildren, Emily Burks of Somerset, Katherine Doucette of Shaftsbury, VT and Benjamin Doucette of Arlington, VT as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sally’s honor may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 13770 Noel Rd., Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
