Sandra P. (Vallee) Leary, age 76, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Charles T. Leary, to whom she had been married for 56 years.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy (Russel) Vallee. Sandra worked as a glass cutter at Princess House in Dighton for many years until an injury changed the course of her life. She went on to help found the Injured Workers United organization, advocating for injured and disabled workers throughout the country. Sandra was a gifted organist, cook, and gardener who loved entertaining family and friends, vacationing on Cape Cod, and watching crime and medical dramas with her family.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Elizabeth Bigelow and her husband George of Fall River, and Brian Leary and his wife Jessica of Swansea; five grandchildren, Amanda, Ryan, Jacob, Jillian, and Grayson; two great-grandchildren, James and Jackson; two siblings, Deborah Ambrose and Jonathan Vallee, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sandra was the sister of the late Michael, Joyce, and Emma Vallee.
Her Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Rose E. Sullivan Funeral Home, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Service in the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sandra’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
