Such fond memories of my Uncle visiting us in Chatham. He was the most “full of life” man I ever knew. My mom and his wife, Martha, and sometimes other Hickey sisters would plan the cookouts, beach trips etc. but it was always Uncle Ding who would lead all the kids to a running leap into the ocean. He would pick us up and toss us in the air and we would squeal with joy as we plunged into a wave. We wanted to be the strong swimmer he was.
Patrick was close to my age and my brother, Michael. Millie Martha was close with my sister, Maureen. Such fun we had in our neighborhood telling stories in the dark while the fireflies darted around us. We could hear the parents talking in the house through the open windows.
Then there was baby Alice who joined the family and all our love centered on her. Aunt Martha was so sick and died. Asthma has been family burden.
It was wonderful to see Uncle Ding happy again after marrying Maureen.
I remember, Uncle Ding providing caring support to Aunt Millie (his former wife’s twin) at times of difficulty especially when she was dying of cancer. Alice also, gave Aunt Millie much comfort.
Many years have past with weddings and funerals. Uncle Ding is the last of an era for that generation of our proud family.

Our deepest sympathy to Maureen and family. We have so many wonderful memories of Bill. Fishing off the Cape, vacations in P-town. I know my parents, Oliver and Dot Perry, will be hanging out and catching up with Bill. Great friends forever.
Bill will be greatly missed and always remembered with a smile.
