OBITUARY
Willie C. Brown Jr.
September 11, 1935 – March 10, 2012
Willie C. Brown Jr., age 76, of Somerset, died, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Brandon Woods in New Bedford. He was the husband of Marguerite G. (Martin) Brown.
Born in Decatur, Mississippi, a son of the late Willie C. Brown Sr. and Sadie (Hollingsworth) Brown, he moved to this area in 1957. A graduate of E.E. Bass High School, he attended Tufts University, Fischer College, Bristol Community College, and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Respiratory Therapist at the former Truesdale Hospital, Newport Hospital, and St. Anne’s Hospital and a worked as a Phlebotomist at the Somerset Medical Walk In before retiring in 1997. Mr. Brown was a member of the Clover Club, the Irish Heritage Association, Somerset Fishing Club, and the First Friday Club. He was the treasurer and coach for the Somerset Jr. Basketball Association. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, camping, and photography.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son; Mike W. Brown of Somerset, one daughter; Nancy Brown of Fall River, one sister; Mary Ann Woodridge of Mississippi, grandson; Corey Melo, great-grandson Damian and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Jerry and William Brown.
His Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 11:00AM to 12:00NOON in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St, Fall River, burial to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
