Mr. Buster Hampton

Buster Hampton, 89 of Beckley passed away Monday, June 16, 2014. Born November 5, 1924, he was a son of the late Issac and Rowena Smith Hampton. Buster was an avid coon hunter, enjoyed farming and fishing. He retired from Slab Fork Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA Local union # 6108. Buster was the owner and operator of the Hampton’s Laundromat in Mac Arthur. Buster never met a stranger and was loved by all he knew. In addition to his parents, Buster is preceded in death by his wife, Violet Polk Hampton; brothers, Jack Hampton, Sr., Timothy Hampton, Thomas Hampton, Sr.; sisters, Lola Smith, Virgie King, Beatrice Pauley. Those left to cherish his memory include, brother, Kenneth Hampton and wife Sylvia of Coal City; daughter, Marie Hampton Collins of Beckley; son, Buster James Hampton and wife Yuconda of Midway; grandchildren ,Susan Collins Deibler and husband, Christopher of Los Lunas, NM, Cassandra Hampton Tayloe and husband, Robert of King, NC, Buster James Hampton, II and wife, Melody of Coal City, Stephanie Collins Hill and husband Jeffrey of Beckley, Robert Hampton and wife Melissa of Pageland, SC; great-grandchildren, Avery Hammond, III, Dylon Deibler, Brandon Hampton, Seth Hill, James Deibler, Shea Hill, Nick Hildreth; great-great-grandchild, little Nick Hildreth; precious dog and constant companion, Effie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia with Preacher Jimmy Hawkins of Bluntsville, TN officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Friends may gather with the family Wednesday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
