It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alan R. Moniz, 74, of Dartmouth, MA, son of the late William and Laura (Ponte) Moniz and husband of 52 years to wife Delores (Carvalho) Moniz. Alan passed away peacefully on July 2,2025 at Brigham and Women’s hospital after a valiant battle with lymphoma, surrounded by his loving wife and 2 adoring daughters leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness, integrity, and devotion to those he loved.
Born in Acushnet MA, Alan was known for his huge heart, incredible work-ethic, masterful ability to fix anything, great sense of humor and wit, and an unwavering loyalty to family and friends. Alan worked as a Maintenance Superintendent at Revere Copper and Brass for over 30 years before switching careers to a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant – a job he was truly passionate about as he loved helping others. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Bristol Community College and New England Tech. He was a member of the US Army and a Vietnam War Veteran. His hobbies include golfing with his great group of friends, going to the movies, cooking holiday meals for his family and taking trips to the casino. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He especially cherished time with his grandson Matthew and his granddog Bella.
In addition to his loving wife and parents he is survived by his brother William Moniz, Jr. and significant other Diane Brodeur of Fairhaven, MA; his daughter Dr. Jennifer Moniz-Duffy and husband David Duffy of Foxboro, MA, Veronica Moniz and her husband Steven Magnanti and her son Matthew Crowley and stepdaughter Ava Magnanti of Dartmouth, MA. He is predeceased by his brother Ronald Moniz of NH, and sister Sandra Sol of Acushnet, MA. He is also an uncle to several nieces and nephews.
A wake to celebrate Alan’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth from 4pm-7pm where friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth at 10:00 am.
