

Angela M. (Farinelli) Castaldi, 85, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Hallworth House in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the wife of the late Basil “Doc” Castaldi to whom she shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Summit, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Vetrone) Farinelli, she had resided in Dartmouth for 41 years before moving to Providence 7 years ago.
She was in the first female class to graduate from Clark University in Worcester and received two Master degrees from the University of Illinois and Bridgewater State College.
Mrs. Castaldi taught algebra at Dartmouth High School from 1964 until her retirement in 1987.
She was the first president of the Dartmouth Teachers Association, a member of the College Club of New Bedford, the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association and the Bristol County Retired Teachers Association. Her interests included gardening, cooking and photography.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Castaldi of San Jose, CA; her son, Paul Castaldi and his wife Sharon DeLucca of Bristol, RI; two sisters, Frances Lonardo of Shrewsbury, MA and Elsa Loughlin of Lincoln, RI; a brother-in-law, James Castaldi of Calimesa, CA; two grandchildren, Allison Castaldi of Brooklyn, NY and Alex Castaldi of Dartmouth; and six nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her graveside service on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 12:00PM in the South Dartmouth Cemetery, 507 Elm St., South Dartmouth.
