Antonio “Tony” M. Santos, 60, of New Bedford passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Silva) Santos with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.

Born in St. Michael, Azores a son of Natalia (Caborge) Santos of New Bedford and the late Manuel Santos he lived most of his life in New Bedford and he was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Parish. Tony worked in the fishing industry down on the New Bedford docks in various capacities. In his spare time, he cherished spending time with his friends, family, and grandchildren. He had a passion for fishing and a true love of the sea. He loved all New England sports teams and soccer. Tony also had a new found love for traveling.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three children, a daughter, Melissa DaCosta of Fairhaven; two sons, Eric Santos of Westport and Matthew Santos of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Alexzander Santos, Samantha Santos and Alaina DaCosta with one grandson on the way, Owen; a sister, Helen Realejo of New Bedford; two brothers, Joseph Santos and David Santos of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be Monday, March 12, 2018 at 9 am from WARING-SULLIVAN at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Julie Billiart Parish, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford. Visitation will be Sunday 4-7 pm. Biography
