Bock and the late Betty Bock of Scarsdale, NY; mother to Katherine Bradshaw of Bellingham, MA, Kristen Browne of Quincy, MA and Kendra Browne of Boston, MA; mother-in-law to Aaron Bradshaw of Bellingham, MA; grandmother to Ava and Isabella Bradshaw of Bellingham, MA; sister to William Bock of Mount Kisco, NY, Robert Bock of Charlotte, NC, Timothy Bock of Branford, CT, and Louis Bock of Melbourne, FL; and cousin to Christine Cooper of Norfolk, VA. Barbara was born July 6, 1947 in Manitowoc, WI and spent her childhood in Scarsdale, NY. She worked as an R.N. at Laurence Hospital where she met her husband. After short stays in Scotland and upstate New York, she settled in South Dartmouth, MA in 1978. She was a diabetic educator for several years before being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She was an advocate for women’s heath and was one of the founding members of the Ovarian Cancer Education Awareness Network (O.C.E.A.N.) at Massachusetts General Hospital.

During her illness, she remained positive and developed new interests, including travel (especially to Italy), cruises, knitting, ballroom dancing and macrobiotic cooking. Her most memorable time was being “Mimi” to Ava and Isabella.

For many years our families lived on the same street in Scarsdale. I remember playing with Barbara and the fun that we shared. I was so sorry to learn of her passing. My warmest thoughts go out to you, her family and friends, and I hope your many memories will be a source of strength and comfort. With deepest sympathy,

Barbara was the first person I ran into after I had received a devastating diagnosis. She was so positive and so caring. I felt God had sent me an angel that day. I will never forget her continued kindness and she will be dearly missed. Lisa Whiting

Barbara, Bobbie to me, was my best friend in middle school. She welcomed me to a new place, very different in 1960, from Chicago. I was so glad to see her at our last HS reunion. She was clearly thriving on her love for life and her family. Mr. Bock, Billy, Robin, I'm so sorry. Through this I learned about the loss of Mrs. Bock, for awhile, a second mother to me.
