

Prof. Mikolajczak was born June 30, 1946 in Poznan, Poland to Maria and Walenty Mikolajczak.
He received an MS in Mathematics from Adam Mickiewich University in 1972 and in 1974 a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Technology in Poznan.
Prof. Mikolajczak was a faculty member of the Computer Science Department in the College of Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth from 1986 until his death and chaired that department from 1995 until 2010. In addition, he taught as a Visiting Professor of Computer Science at the University of Dresdent, Germany and Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
He was a recipient of numerous awards and honors for his research and publications in the field of computer science, including an honor from the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Mikolajczak is survived by his wife Urszula, sons Maciej and Wojciech, daughter-in-law Marija and grandson Jordan.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, July 26, 2010 from 5-8pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will be in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
