As times goes on your memory does not fade.  March is the month that you were born and your birthday is near.  We will try not to be sad but celebrate the wonderful life you shared with us all.  Sometimes for a moment I forget your gone.  As the weather warms and the snow has melted, I think of you as I drive by Lake street and remember how you loved to fish. 41 years of a persons life, to be summed up in a few paragraphs of an obituary. It was not until Feb 12th, was I made aware that Brian had passed last December.  
 
Brian was the younger brother that I was never fortunate to have ever had. We met in the Air Force in North Dakota, where we became brothers. We initially met while studying martial arts together and became the best of friends over night. He was the type of man that would do anything for a friend. He literally had my back on a few occassions where I would not have trusted anyone else on this planet with the same responsibility. Only he and I know of those times.  
 
He used to call me big Shawn, I think only because I was bigger than he was........he was always the more energetic of the two of us. I think that was based on his diet his mother always fed him. We used to have so much fun going to Garrison Dam on Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota, pulling all nighters fishing, only to go shooting the next day, or rappeling off the dam bridge, which was totally illegal....but boys will be boys.  
 
Without even asking Brian to do so, I am positive he is watching me right now as I write this. I am sure he will now look over the health and well being of everyone he loved while he was here on this Earth with us. He was that type of person. He was not the type to have required a prompting of, he was there for all of us. He was a Security Police officer in the military, then an armed security officer in some of the toughest areas of Boston before he became a firefighter in the city of New Bedford, following the footsteps of his father, where he continued to save the lives of others he had never even met before.  
 
I remember the day when Brian called me, as I was laid up in the hospital on 26 July of 2004. I answered my cell phone and it was Brian. I was amazed at how he knew I was in the hospital from an injury I incurred while performing the duties of a police officer, when in fact, he was calling me to tell me he had cancer. I immediately started crying knowing the tragic outcome that usually follows. It just was not right. He did not deserve this. If there were ever a person that should be considered an Angel, it was Brian, but please, not before his time. I am not a very religious person, but I do believe in a higher power, and a greater purpose. I strongly believe that every person on this earth has something to offer one another, and once that purpose is accomplished, our body will be retired and our spirit will live on to begin that next journey.  
 
My thoughts, prayers, and love also go to his entire family, including Meatball. And Brian, I know you are watching over me, but once in a while leave the room or at least close your eyes.  
 
I love you buddy...........and we will go fishing again one day. Hang in there.

Brian,
Although you weren't on this earth nearly long enough, your legacy will live on forever in or thoughts, stories and memories. You had a profound impact on the lives of my children, and I truly appreciate that - they really miss you and will never forget you.  Rose and I talk about you often and as much as you are missed, the tears eventually turn into smiles thinking of the times that were shared while we were blessed to be with you.  I'll never forget the laughs we shared, you always had the ability to make those around you smile.  I Love You.

To my brother Brian,
     This is not good bye but a new journey.  I know you watch over us all.  You are one of the strongest people I have known.  To my children you are know as the dragon slayer, snake charmer, and hero.  You live on in my childrens playtime.  Andrew is the fireman and Lauren is meatball.   You are our angel and Andrew draws you often.  You make me smile, offer encouragement and support through your signs that you give at the most perfect time.  We all love Edna and she will always part of our lives.  She is our friend and sister, and I want you to know she is ok.  I knew I was never going to win at I got you last.  Roseanne and I were made strong for a reason.  A family of warriors!   One word from the movie Braveheart   "FREEDOM" . You now are truely free!   You will always have a home in my heart. To an amazing uncle, although you have left us physically, you are still with us. Strength isn't measured by this physical build of someone, but by how much they can stand while still remaining the happy, upbeat person they are. Thank you for showing me a quality that I promise to keep with me forever. I will keep memories of you and will cherish them until the day we meet again.  You'll always be my fellow "#1" and it's something I will pass on to my nieces and nephews when that day comes.

Brian I think of you everyday. I see the signs you give Karen and I letting us know you are ok. I will miss my sweet brother the kids miss their crazy uncle. You will never be forgotten! You will be with us at every holiday, every special moment in our lives including first boyfriends, weddings, births and I except you to watch over the kids and haunt anyone trying to do them harm. You know I can defend myself because you taught me well. When I wrestle with Keith I tell him " bring it on I grew up with a brother!!!! Love you always Rose

Even in his passing he can make people smile with memories of moments they shared. All my thoughts of Brian involve laughing. He had such a great soul. May he be at peace.

This is perhaps one of my favorite photos. You were always curious and an adventurer, who loved the outdoors and wildlife. There is not a day that you are not in our thoughts and we will see you again someday, in a better place.

I, like many other people, spent many good times in high school with Brian.  He always made me laugh and had more energy than all of us put together.  I am so sorry for your loss but he leaves a lot of great memories behind with us.

Brian you were a true inspiration to me. Even while you were in pain, you maintained your dignity and your sense of humor. It was a privilege and an honor to care for you. I will hold you in my heart forever. 
May your family find comfort in that your suffering has finally ended and that you are at peace.
