

Brian E. Oliveira, 41, of South Dartmouth, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Edna (Carreiro) Oliveira to whom he had been married for the past 8 years.
Born in Fort Benning, Georgia, the son of Ernest and Elaine (Breton) Oliveira of Freetown, he had resided in Freetown for most of his life before moving to Dartmouth in February.
Brian was a graduate of Apponequet Regional High School and served in the United States Air Force.
He was a Firefighter for the City of New Bedford for many years until his retirement.
Brian enjoyed target shooting and the company of his dog, Meatball. He was a friendly and outgoing person who will be missed by his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two sisters, Karen Souza and her husband Tim of Fairhaven and Roseanne Medeiros and her husband Keith of Boynton Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Corinne, Ryan and Taylor Medeiros, Andrew and Lauren Souza; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jose and Leona Carreiro of So. Dartmouth.
