

Carole (Manning) Morgan, age 88, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Roland Frederick “Fred” Morgan, with whom she shared more than fifty-six years of marriage before he passed away in February of 2020.
Born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, the daughter of William and Alice (Duckworth) Manning, she had lived in New Bedford since 1972, while spending many winters in Florida after her retirement in 1999.
Carole earned a bachelor's degree in education from Fitchburg State University and was a school teacher in Wareham and New Bedford for 27 years before retiring. She was an avid reader and knitter. She made dozens of sweaters for her friends and family. She was an avid sports fan and follower of all the local sports teams, and had been enjoying this year’s World Cup soccer matches. She was the captain of 2 tennis teams during her winters in N. Ft. Myers, FL, and played until the age of 81.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dr. Kristen M. Morgan of New Bedford and Kimberly J. Adair of Temple, NH; five grandchildren, Mia Morgan, Evan Branquinho, Emma Branquinho, Whitney Adair and Aubrey Adair and several other family members in England. She was the mother of the late Kirk R. Morgan and sister of the late Jack Gregson and Gwen Henderson.
Her Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10:30 am at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 136 Rivet Street, New Bedford, MA 02744. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements are in the care of the Waring Sullivan Home in Dartmouth. A Private burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
